NY - Behavioral Health, Chemical Dependency and Long-term Care Act (2009)

The bill recognizes the needs of family caregivers, including those caring for an adult with a behavioral disorder. The bill would establish a task force on long-term care to ensure that all the state's planning and advisory groups which are involved with geriatric long-term care have at least one member with expertise in geriatric mental health and chemical dependency. The bill also requires the state's long-term care council to examine issues related to geriatric mental health and to seize opportunities to enhance services and the training of professionals in that area.
