NY - Paid Family Leave (2009)

The bill would provide paid leave to workers taking time off to care for a family member, including a child, spouse, domestic partner, parent, grandparent, grandchild, or mother- or father-in-law, with a serious health condition or to bond with a new child. Established through the state's workers' compensation program, workers taking family care leave would receive 50% of their weekly wage, not to exceed a maximum amount, for up to twelve weeks. The bill also provides job protection to those who take family care leave.
