CA - Family and Medical Leave (2011)

This bill would expand the definition of family under the Family Rights Act by eliminating the age and dependency elements from the definition of child thereby permitting an employee to take protected leave to care for an independent adult child suffering from serious health condition. The bill would expand the definition of parent to include an employee's parent-in-law, and would also allow leave to care for a seriously ill grandparent, sibling, grandchild, or domestic partner. Note: bill was introduced 12/7/2010.
