Family Caregiver Alliance Releases New Fact Sheet on End-of-Life Decision-Making
SAN FRANCISCO-Family Caregiver Alliance has published a new Fact Sheet on End of Life Decision-Making. The document provides families and caregivers with straightforward information on:
- Discussing end-of-life issues with family and friends;
- Taking control of financial decisions;
- The use of advance directives;
- Conservatorships, guardianships and planning for someone who is incapacitated.
"With the increased interest in these issues from families, and with increased coverage by the media, we've seen a real need for this information," commented Kathleen Kelly, Executive Director of Family Caregiver Alliance. "Bill Moyers is exploring this topic in depth on the current PBS program 'On Our Own Terms'. His efforts, and the concurrent Bay Window series produced by KQED in San Francisco, have really sparked an enormous amount of discussion about these sensitive topics".
"Family Caregiver Alliance clients are caregivers who are intimately familiar with the issues of end-of-life decision-making. We hope this new Fact Sheet will give them the information they need assist in planning ahead, or to help them get through very trying times."
The Fact Sheet on End-of-Life Planning joins some 40 other Fact Sheets published by FCA for use by families and professionals involved with long-term care.
