Florida Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) Program
The Home Care for the Elderly program is a non-Medicaid program that provides compensation directly to the caregiver to assist in helping support low-income elderly loved ones in their homes. Caregivers can be family members, but it is not a requirement. Payments are dispersed two ways: Basic Payments are intended to assist with food, clothing, and medical costs while the Special Payment is intended to assist in the costs of necessary medical services, like equipment and/or nursing homes.

Florida Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care Program
The Florida Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care Program is a Medicaid program designed to assist the needs of elderly residents. SMMC LTC provides participant direction, meaning, the care recipient can pick and choose their personal care provider- often times a family member- who can then be compensated. Depending on participant eligibility, the program also provides: non-emergency transportation, assisted living, adult day care, caregiver training, case management, medication administration, respite care, hospice, home delivered meals, medical equipment and supplies, etc..

National Family Caregiver Support Program
Florida’s National Family Caregiver Support Program offers services to help families under certain circumstances, including those that care for frail older relatives and grandparents, or older relatives who serve as caregivers for minor children or children of any age who have disabilities. Services for family caregivers are provided through local area agencies on aging (AAAs) and include:

SAMHSA’s National Helpline
The Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357) (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service), is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders.
