FCA Co-Founder, Suzanne Harris, Remembered

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our esteemed Co-Founder, Suzanne “Sue” Harris on February 21, 2015. Sue was a tireless advocate for family caregivers whether with policy makers, donors or researchers. She kept us honest to the mission and was a great friend. Sue will be remembered fondly and missed tremendously. Our condolences go out to her children Pete, Evan and Andy and their families.

FCA announces the Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer's Disease Caregiving Legacy Awardees

 The National Center on Caregiving at Family Caregiver Alliance announces that four exceptional programs from California, Illinois, and Minnesota are the most recent recipients of the Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer's Disease Caregiving Legacy Awards. The 2014 awarded programs and their host organizations are:

Tech Comes Home: How Emerging Technologies Can Help Caregiving Families

New technology developments in health monitoring, tracking/alert systems, medication management and scheduling/organizing care have proven to be useful tools for families providing care at home for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, heart failure and other conditions. And FCA has long advocated for utilizing any and all tools—including the latest, digital apps—to assist family caregivers.

Help us Meet a Holiday Challenge Grant!

Family Caregiver Alliance has received a challenge grant of $12,000 to match with contributions from our supporters by the end of the year.

When Care Comes Home . . . L.A. Caregivers Invited

FCA is alerting caregivers in Los Angeles, California, to an event hosted by one of our corporate partners, Clorox.  Caregivers in the Los Angeles area are invited to join Clorox CareConcepts for a night off with other caregivers . . . cocktails, hors d'ouevres, and pampering activities will be provided,along with a private screening of the caregiving documentary "A Sacred Journey," by Los Angeles-based filmmaker, Ernesto Quintero.

FCA Thanks Stavros Niarchos Foundation

Family Caregiver Alliance extends a deep thank you to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for a grant allowing FCA to redesign the caregiver.org website you are currently visiting. The funds received from SNF not only allowed us to refocus our caregiver content, but also to implement a more user-friendly content management system, and develop communication channels to better support family caregivers.

2013 Awardees of the Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiving

The 2013 winners, chosen at the close of last year, are described below. The organizations are expected to receive their awards from Family Caregiver Alliance and The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation this week at the American Society on Aging's Aging in American Conference held all this week,  March 11-15, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.
