Program:
Meet Me at MoMA
“Meet Me at MoMA” is a free program for
people with early to mid-stage Alzheim-
er’s disease (or related dementias), and
their caregivers, providing them mutually
beneficial opportunities for self expres-
sion, connection, and learning. Looking
at, discussing, and making art require no
access to short-term memory, yet provide
emotional and intellectual stimulation.
MoMA offers interactive gallery tours
led by trained educators, to individuals
once each month September through
June, and to day care groups and
assisted living facilities upon request year-
round. MoMA also offers a multi-week
series of art making classes. The “Meet
Me at MoMA” program has been widely
replicated.
“[T]hose of us who plan, organize and teach
the programs attempt to serve both the person with
dementia and the care partner equally. Receiving The Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s
Disease Caregiving Legacy Award in 2009 was such a special honor because it acknowledged what
others hadn’t—how hard we’ve worked to improve quality of life for care partners, as well as those they
care for.” - Francesca Rosenberg, Director, Community, Access & School Programs
